Tonkin House is a series of floating masses splitted in to 3 levels, built on a steeply sloped linear site of 1024m2 surrounded by native trees. The house is carefully designed to blend into its natural landscape and connect-ed to the surrounding environment by a variation of cantilevered decks to maximise the ocean and mountain views .The property is located on the north-western part of Waiheke Island and built with sustainable materials to complement its unique site. The house is not just a dwelling but accommodates a calm backdrop for natural light and takes advantage of the afternoon sun .

Terra was engaged to complete the architectural design, planning, together with all civil and survey-ing services from concept design through to completion. The entire home now invokes a welcoming place to relax, visit nearby parks and reserves whilst providing an exciting home to live in.
