About the Role
We’re looking to employ Intermediate to Senior Level Civil Engineers into our team, who will report to and work closely with our General Manager. You’ll be based in our Auckland office, surrounded by talented, down-to-earth colleagues who all have a passion for delivering exceptional service to our clients.
This position entails carrying out general engineering services within Terra Consultants. Your role will be based heavily on the use of your knowledge as an Engineering Professional. The role based within the Land Development Team is orientated around assisting other engineers, surveyors, planners and architects in meeting current targets and workload goals. You will grow into your role as an integral, valued and important member of our team.
Requirements
Work Activities will include:
Undertaking technical and feasibility studies, including site investigations;
Engineering Design using Civil 3D;Attending meetings and liaising with clients and a variety of professionals, including architects and subcontractors;
Assessing the sustainability and environmental impact of projects;
Assisting with project compliance with legal requirements, especially health and safety;
Undertaking and reviewing complex calculations and compiling job specs and supervision tendering procedures;
Overseeing of construction contracts and contract supervision (where applicable);
You will liaise with council for resource consents, engineering approvals and building consents.
The successful applicant must be self-motivated, capable, and able to work independently. Our engineers have a flexible role where diversity is encouraged. We have a busy workload ahead of us with many residential subdivisions ready to be designed. In the role, you will coordinate with other consultants when designing roads, drainage, earthworks, and utility supply.

Your ideal experience and attributes include:
Ability to problem-solve with the goal to resolve design and development problems;
Related qualification and proven working approx 3-10 years in Civil Engineering experience;
Confident and capable communicator and team member;
You may be required to carry out 2D and 3D CAD Civil Design (subdivisions) using AutoCAD Civil3D, so knowledge of this (although not essential) would be beneficial for this role;
Use your knowledge as an Engineering Professional;
Experience in construction observation;
Strong interpersonal skills which allow you to liaise with team members and other professional disciplines in order to discuss project management, project elements, project issues, and status, and be involved in solutions for projects with Clients and management;
Construction cost estimate experience is advantageous;
A focus on quality standards, assurances, and delivery methods offering innovation in methods and delivery where possible;
Health and Safety knowledge advantageous (specifically around Health and Safety in design practices);
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
General knowledge of Synergy Digital Doc. Mgt System is advantageous;
